Arrest made after AT&T Park street fight

A suspect was arrested in connection with a street fight outside AT&T Park Thursday that left a woman unconscious.

The melee occurred around 5:50 p.m. when a group of Giants and Athletics fans got into an argument on 2nd and King Street following the final game of the Bay Bridge series, according to police spokesperson Officer Albie Esparza.

A woman was knocked unconscious after trying to get between an altercation. Police officials said that one man had punched another and then a woman was struck while trying to intervene.

Her head hit the sidewalk after she was struck and was knocked unconscious. The man who was punched was being treated for chipped teeth.

The woman was said to be wearing an A’s cap and is being treated for serious injuries at San Francisco General Hospital.

Esparza said Friday that the woman was “responding to treatment” in the hospital.

Francisco Lopez, 32, was taken into custody Thursday in Sacramento. He is believed to be one of two male suspects who got into an argument with the victims, police said.

The brawl comes just a day after Giants fan Bryan Stow was awarded $18 million in a lawsuit, $4.5 million of which is expected to be paid by the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Stow was assaulted and left brain damaged by two men in the parking lot of Dodgers Stadium in 2011.

Last September, a 24-year-old Dodgers fan was stabbed to death outside AT&T Park after a Giants game against the Dodgers in a street brawl sparked by the rivalry.
