Accused ‘MyRedbook’ owner skips court

One of the alleged proprietors of a sex listings website charged with facilitating prostitution and money laundering skipped his court appearance this morning.

Eric “Red” Omuro, 53, of Mountain View, was released from custody Wednesday on a $500,000 unsecured bond and was due to appear before U.S. Magistrate Judge Nathanael Cousins this morning to identify an attorney and enter a plea.

Omuro did not show up and Cousins issued a bench warrant for his arrest.

Omuro is accused of running the sex listings websites MyRedBook.com and SFRedBook.com with the assistance of co-defendant Annemarie Lanoce, 40, of Rocklin.

The websites were seized by the FBI and U.S. Internal Revenue Service on Wednesday and Omuro and Lanoce were arrested. An indictment unsealed that day accuses Omuro of using mail and the Internet to facilitate prostitution and laundering more than $5 million he took in by running the site.
