Her father was a notorious porn peddler, now she’s gaining her own notoriety as a suspected credit card forger and for escaping arrest by allegedly ramming a police car.
A statewide search is underway for Jasmine Mitchell after detectives say she rammed an unmarked police car when they tried to arrest her for her alleged role in a massive ID theft and phony credit card ring.
The 33-year-old Jasmine is the daughter of San Francisco porn king Artie Mitchell, who along with his older brother Jim, operated the Mitchell Brothers O’Farrell Theatre in San Francisco’s Tenderloin District.
Artie Mitchell was shot to death by Jim Mitchell, who is now deceased, in 1991.
Sonoma County sheriff’s Sgt. Michael Raasch says authorities were looking for Jasmine Mitchell and an alleged accomplice when detectives received a tip she was staying in an apartment complex across the street from the Lytton Casino in San Pablo:
“Both suspects also are known and being investigated by other law enforcement agencies throughout the Bay area, as well as the Secret Service and Homeland Security for a large scale identity theft operation.”
When Sonoma County detectives went to the complex one night last week and entered an apartment on a probation search they found another person on the run from police, 46-year-old Harley Logsdon.
Detectives say Logsdon was wanted for violating the terms of his violation after previously serving time for forgery.
While inside the apartment investigators uncovered what’s being described as a “large-scale” identity and credit card operation.
As the apartment was being searched, Mitchell drove into the complex parking lot in a white Mercedes.
When detectives tried to arrest Mitchell, they say she rammed an unmarked police car with her Mercedes, hit another parked car then drove off, eluding capture.
Besides being wanted on Identity theft warrants, Raasch says detectives are also seeking warrants for her arrest alleging assault with a deadly weapon (the car) on a peace officer and hit and run.
The white, four-door sedan Mercedes that Mitchell was driving has California license plates 5YGV637.
Another alleged accomplice of Mitchell tried to escape the scene as well, but was taken into custody after hailing a taxicab in nearby Richmond.
Raasch says 34-year-old Roy Kim is being held on a “no bail parole hold” and for warrants alleging his role in identify theft.
Mitchell’s alleged assault on an officer adds to a streak of violence in the family.
Besides her uncle Jim having served time for the murder of her father, a cousin is also on prison on murder charges.
James Mitchell, Jim’s son, is serving time for beating the mother of his young daughter to death with a baseball bat in 2009.
