Bloodied Dwight Howard will ‘take care’ of Lee

The bruised and battered Los Angeles Lakers took last night’s loss on the chin, but Dwight Howard is not taking an errant David Lee elbow lightly.

Right before halftime, Lee caught the three-time Defensive Player of the Year with an elbow to the mouth. It drew blood. Howard, somehow, drew a technical foul for squawking back at Lee after the incident.

Speaking with the media the day after, Howard wasn’t happy:

“I will take care of it. … He got away with a shot. I will remember this game. I will remember that shot. He said he wasn’t trying to do it. You can look at the play and see it for yourself. I will take care of it later.”

Those are some serious fighting words. I imagine the NBA will step in and try to settle Howard down before the Warriors and Lakers meet for the last time this season on April 12 at Staples Center.

David Lee answered questions from reporters about the incident following Tuesday’s practice.

If Howard’s comments go unnoticed by the NBA, that April 12 matchup in Los Angeles will be must-see-TV. Would Howard seriously risk suspension to get revenge for a cut lip that required three stitches?
