SF Bulls are playoff-bound in first season

Orange & Black prove to still be playoff-bound colors, as the San Francisco Bulls found out Tuesday night.

News broke a little after 9:30 p.m. Tuesday that the city’s hockey team had, in their inaugural season no less, clinched a berth in the 2013 Kelly Cup Playoffs.

While the Bulls themselves were not on the ice Tuesday night, the Bakersfield Condors 2-1 regulation loss to the Las Vegas Wranglers secured San Francisco the fourth and final Pacific Division playoff spot.

The Bulls (25-35-1-6) will kick off their playoff stint the first week in April. Dates and opponents have yet to be announced.

Today’s standings suggest San Francisco would kick off the Western Conference Quarterfinal play with a five-game stint against the first place Alaska Aces, though there is still a possibility — with two weeks left in the season — that the second place Ontario Reign could catch the Aces.

But don’t forget, there are still six more regular season games to go. Four of which are at home, starting this Friday against the Stockton Thunder. The puck drops at 7:15 p.m.
