Muni riders should plan ahead during last week of March, as the transit agency is reducing service on several of its bus lines during spring break for SF State and San Francisco Unified School District students.
The San Francisco Municipal Transportation said the transit agency will save $45,000 because of less employee overtime and maintenance work during spring break transit service reduction.
This is not the first the time the SFMTA has implemented a reduced Muni schedule. During the last week of December last year, Muni implemented its Saturday schedule that entailed less frequency of service on many of its bus lines.
The transit agency saved $275,000 from the December service reduction.
The schedule changes are a part of the transit agency’s strategic plan, which calls for service adjustments during low ridership periods like during the week before the New Year and spring break.
A similar reduced Muni service schedule could also be implemented in the summer. SFBay will let readers know when the transit agency makes those changes.
