Those NHL heads might finally be exchanging offers with the Players Association to end the lockout, but that isn’t going to stop a local pro hockey favorite from trading in his shark fin for a set of bulls’ horns.
The San Francisco Bulls announced Monday morning that former SJ center Torrey Mitchell was signed to a contract. Mitchell will play his first game at the Cow Palace this Wednesday night when the Bulls host the Colorado Eagles.
Bulls President and Head Coach Pat Curcio said in a press release Monday morning:
“We know how much of a fan favorite Torrey was with San Jose. We expect Bulls fans to feel the same way when they see him play at the Cow Palace. The entire organization is excited about seeing Torrey in a San Francisco Bulls uniform.”
The Montreal, Quebec native was acquired by the Minnesota Wild this year after playing five seasons in San Jose. Since being drafted in 2004, he has tallied 30 goals, 43 assists and 152 penalty minutes while sporting the teal jersey.
The Bulls begin their two-game home stand against the Colorado Eagles Wednesday, January 2. The puck drops at 7:15 p.m.
