Unwrapping the Warriors on Christmas

Hey Warriors fans: You won’t have to wait long to see Monta Ellis, Stephen Curry and the rest of  the W’s.

Multiple sources say that they expect the Warriors will host Blake Griffin and the Los Angeles Clippers on Christmas Day, the first day of the abbreviated NBA season.

It was expected that the NBA would only schedule three marquee games on their biggest day of the NBA season, but this has to be a pleasant surprise for Warriors fans.

Whether the Warriors will feature any new faces is still to be determined. General Manager Larry Riley is considering all options. Free agency, which begins December 9, may yield players like Nene, Tyson Chandler or David West. They’ll surely be expensive though. It’s unlikely the Warriors have the salary cap space to sign any big-ticket low-block players.

A trade is another option. Improving the team might involve trading Monta Ellis. A team source confirmed that discussions about a possible Ellis-Rudy Gay trade have started up again.

With or without new faces, Oracle Arena will be rocking on Christmas Day as new head coach Mark Jackson leads Ellis, Curry, David Lee and the rest of the Warriors into battle against Griffin and the Clips.
