Scott Olsen speaks, feeling better

Former U.S. marine Scott Olsen made his first public remarks since being seriously injured during Occupy Oakland demonstrations in late October.

Olsen, 24, posted the brief statement to his Google Plus account:

“I’m feeling a lot better, with a long road in front of me. After my freedom of speech was quite literally taken from me, my speech is coming back but I’ve got a lot of work to do with rehab.”

The statement was accompanied by a picture of Olsen with a neck brace and a scar above his left brow. A friend said Olsen suffered a fractured skull and could not speak for days after the incident. Olsen was discharged from the hospital over the weekend.
