The last time we saw Buster Posey on the field was back on May 25, when he was pummeled at home plate by Scott Cousins of the Florida Marlins. Then we had to relive it over and over — in slow-mo — as loud men on the television yelled back and forth at each other over the incident.
But now we can put those horrible memories behind us. Dave Groeschner, the Giants’ head athletic trainer, confirms that our favorite catcher is a full week ahead of his training schedule. He’s begun catching for pitchers at live bullpen sessions in the instructional league and will start live batting practice soon. Though not fully recovered, Groeschner said Posey is “feeling good and progressing well.”
