Two people were killed Friday evening after they were struck by a vehicle near Interstate Highway 980 in Oakland, according to police.
A vehicle struck the two pedestrians shortly after 8 p.m. at 27th Street and Northgate Avenue, just east of the freeway, according to police.
One person was declared dead at the scene, the second was taken to a hospital and declared dead there. The driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, police said.
