A CHP officer at around 9:45 p.m. was working detail at a Caltrans construction site near Interstate Highway 580 at North Livermore Avenue when the officer saw two drivers pull into the area, get out of their vehicles and begin fighting.
Officers said Mohsen Agib, 52, of Livermore, pulled a folding knife and stabbed the other driver several times.
The CHP officer was able to stop the altercation and take Agib into custody at the scene.
The victim was treated at the scene for his wounds and released.
