A 20-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly ran over his ex-girlfriend and her relative with his car and led police on a pursuit in Vallejo this afternoon, a police lieutenant said.
An officer was flagged down around 1:30 p.m. at Laurel Street and Benicia Road where the man drove over the women with his red pickup truck then fled the scene, Vallejo police Lt. Kevin Bartlett said.
The women were found lying on the pavement and transported to hospitals for moderate injuries, Bartlett said.
The man returned to the scene while officers were investigating and led them on a pursuit after he refused to yield, the lieutenant said.
The chase continued through city streets and ended at Tennessee Street and Oakwood Avenue, where officers were able to use a “pursuit mobilization technique” to stop the truck, Bartlett said.
The suspect, identified as American Canyon resident Jon-Luke Laporte, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and other charges, according to Bartlett.
One of the victims had dated Laporte and broke up with him sometime before the incident, Bartlett said.
