Five people were reportedly sexually assaulted at a fraternity house near the University of California at Berkeley last weekend.
University of California at Berkeley campus police Friday said they have received reports of multiple sexual assaults involving fraternities.
In an alert sent to campus residents today, UC police said a leadership member of the Thi Delta Chi fraternity contacted them to report that a member of the fraternity had reported being sexually assaulted by another fraternity member. The reporting party said there could be other victims, police said.
In another incident, campus police were contacted by a third party reporting that five people were given a date rape drug commonly known as “roofies” and sexually assaulted.
The alleged assaults were reported at Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity house in the 2300 block of Piedmont Avenue near Bancroft Way, west of California Memorial Stadium, sometime between last Friday and Sunday.
The Delta Kappa Epsilon chapter is not recognized by UC Berkeley, UC police said. Both recent incidents fall under the jurisdiction of Berkeley police, who said they had received the alert from campus police but have not received reports of any such incidents or contacted any victims.
The alleged assaults come after the arrest earlier this month of a 20-year-old male suspected of assaulting a female at a fraternity in the 2400 block of Warring Street on Sept. 27, Berkeley police said.
There were two other sexual assaults reported that day but Berkeley police have not released further information about those incidents.
