Rock vocalist Sammy Hagar will be at San Francisco’s Lefty O’Doul’s Restaurant & Cocktail Lounge today to host the Sixth Annual Northern California Mai Tai Mixing Competition.
Bartenders from eleven Bay Area establishments will be competing to represent the Bay Area in the Sixth Annual Don the Beachcomber Mai Tai Festival on Aug. 16 at the Royal Kona Resort in Hawaii.
Judges from the Bay Area’s 107.7 FM The Bone radio station will decide the local winner.
Hagar, most famous for his stint as the lead singer of Van Halen, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007.
He is also known for his time with the band Montrose in the 1970s and a successful solo career. He now fronts the bands Waboritas and Chickenfoot.
The contest winner will be announced at 2:15 p.m. Lefty O’Doul’s is located at 333 Geary St., near Union Square.
