Warriors pick up solid pieces for roster

What could have been a quiet summer for Golden State turned into a wheeling dealing rollercoaster.

The Warriors dealt their way into the draft, landed a flashy new swingman in Andre Iguodala, and spent the rest of free agency adding depth and experience to their star studded roster, with Marreese Speights, Toney Douglas and Jermaine O’Neal, according to multiple sources.

Speights, who reportedly agreed to the deal on Monday, is 6-foot-10, 255 pounds, and averaged 10.2 points and 5.1 rebounds in 39 games with Cleveland last season.

Speights is a nice option inside — where the Warriors need the most help. Festus Ezeli is shelved until mid-season after knee surgery, and Carl Landry signed a four-year deal with Sacramento on Saturday .

Point guard Douglas and center O’Neal both were signed Tuesday to what are believed to be one-year contracts, reported NBA.com.

Douglas will most likely back up Stephen Curry and try to make losing Jarrett Jack seem like less of a big deal.

The Warriors are hoping O’Neal can take pressure off Andrew Bogut by adding experience and a solid back up center to the team.

Golden State also announced that Nemanja Nedovic, officially signed his rookie contract. Though he still has obligations to his European contract, he will be playing for the Warriors during the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas.

With plenty of time left before the start of the season, and with the summer league showcasing new talent, the Warriors still have opportunities to make some more moves.

If the last couple weeks are any indication, it won’t be the last we hear of them.
