San Jose police seek the driver of a black sedan who struck and killed a woman crossing South Jackson Avenue early Tuesday morning.
Another pedestrian has been killed by a motorist on San Jose streets, marking the city’s 35th traffic death of 2022.
Police said they responded to the scene of the traffic collision near South Jackson Avenue and Kammerer Avenue around 4:46 a.m. Tuesday morning. Their investigation determined that a black sedan, described as possibly a 2018-2022 Honda Accord, traveling northbound on South Jackson Avenue struck a woman crossing the road in the eastbound direction.
Police said the woman was not in a marked crosswalk at the time. The sedan driver fled after the collision.
Officers located the woman and she was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s name will be released after the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office confirm her identity and notify next of kin.
