A jury found Contra Costa County sheriff’s deputy Andrew Hall guilty Tuesday of assault with a firearm, but couldn’t reach a decision on a manslaughter charge.
On Nov. 3, 2018, Hall shot 33-year-old Laudemer Arboleda nine times as he attempted to drive away from Danville police. Danville contracts with the county for police services.
Hall’s attorney Harry Stern said afterward he would likely appeal the assault conviction.
Prosecutors left the Martnez courtroom without comment, heading back to their office with Arboleda’s family. Prosecutors can retry the case, and Contra Costa County Superior Court Judge Terri Mockler set a Jan. 14 conference date on a possible retrial.
In a separate incident, Hall fatally shot Tyrell Wilson, 32, while on duty in Danville on March 11 of this year.
