The residents of two homes in Bay Point were displaced early Sunday by a fire that started between the houses, fire officials said.
The two-alarm blaze was reported about 2:15 a.m. in the 100 block of Loftus Road, according to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.
No injuries were reported in the fire, but both homes were extensively damaged and six residents were displaced, Assistant Fire Chief Chris Bachman said.
The fire began outside the two homes, but the cause has not been determined, fire officials said.
