A 40-year-old Sunnyvale man has pleaded no contest to felony embezzlement and identity theft charges for stealing money from the PayPal account of an office management company in Menlo Park in 2018, San Mateo County prosecutors said.
Jorge Quezada entered the plea Monday to the charges in exchange for a sentence of no more than 16 months in state prison and probation if he made substantial restitution by the time of sentencing on May 6, according to the district attorney’s office.
Quezada was in control of The Millennium Group’s PayPal account, and an audit in September 2018 revealed 54 separate unauthorized transactions by him totaling more than $127,300, prosecutors said.
Along with the two felony charges, Quezada admitted enhancements of theft of more than $100,000 and a white collar crime.
He remains out of custody on $127,000 bail, prosecutors said. Quezada’s defense attorney was not immediately available to comment on the case.
