The first First Fridays celebration of the new year gets underway Friday evening in Oakland, organizers said.
The free festival of Oakland art, culture, food and community begins at 5 p.m. and lasts until 9 p.m. on Telegraph Avenue between West Grand Avenue and 27th Street.
Organizers said this month’s celebration will honor womxn.
The festival is produced free of charge to the public by the nonprofit KONO Community Benefit District. However, the event website provides options for donations, explaining:
“(W)e operate at a loss and can’t continue without your support. Please consider a tax-deductible donation to keep the magic happening.”
