Bore No. 1 of the Caldecott Tunnel between Alameda and Contra Costa counties will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday nights for maintenance, officials with Caltrans said.
The bore, which carries eastbound state Highway 24 traffic, will close at 9:30 p.m. each night and reopen the next morning at 4:30 a.m. Caltrans officials said workers will conduct maintenance on the fire protection system and complete repairs/corrections to standpipes. The closures are required because more traffic flows through the bore during the day. Traffic delays are possible and noise may be associated with the closure.
