A motorist and his service dog were injured after being shot at while traveling on eastbound Interstate Highway 980 in Oakland on Friday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP said the shooting was reported at 7:34 p.m. Friday near the eastbound freeway’s intersection with Interstate Highway 580. The man, who was driving a silver Hyundai Sonata, suffered lacerations from broken glass and the dog was struck on the shoulder by gunfire.
The man and dog were both taken to hospitals. Both of them are expected to survive.
The freeway was closed as the CHP investigated the shooting. The CHP didn’t provide any information on suspects.
