A Salinas man pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for killing his supervisor more than three years ago outside a restaurant where he was drinking, Monterey County prosecutors announced Tuesday.
A Salinas man pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for killing his supervisor more than three years ago outside a restaurant where he was drinking, Monterey County prosecutors announced Tuesday.
Geronimo Hernandez, 29, was drinking in a restaurant on Williams Road on June 19, 2015 when he got into an argument with his supervisor, 43-year-old Antonio Gonzalez-Alejo.
Prosecutors said the pair worked at a Gonzales-based farm labor company.
Witnesses saw the pair arguing but no one was able to tell what the argument was about.
Hernandez and the victim went outside where they continued to argue until Hernandez pulled out a knife and stabbed Gonzalez-Alejo seven times.
Prosecutors said the wounds killed Gonzalez-Alejo.
Hernandez ran to a friend’s house where he confessed to the stabbing and gave his friend the knife he used.
The friend called 911 and gave the knife to police.
Prosecutors said Hernandez will be sentenced Aug. 21 to 15 years to life in prison.
