A 55-year-old Boulder Creek man on a bicycle who was struck and killed by a big-rig in Sunnyvale on Thursday has been identified as Scott Harvey, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office.
Officers and fire personnel responded to a report of a major-injury collision on Caribbean Drive and Borregas Avenue at 6:50 a.m., Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety Capt. Shawn Ahearn said.
Arriving personnel found Harvey down in the roadway. They attempted to administer life-saving medical treatment but were unsuccessful, Ahearn said.
The 46-year-old driver of the big-rig cooperated with investigators, who do not believe that drugs or alcohol were involved in the collision.
The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety’s Accident Investigation Team is investigating the details of the collision, including cause, Ahearn said.
Anyone who has information or witnessed the collision should call the Traffic Unit at (408) 730-7109.
