A transient woman was killed in a hit-and-run Friday night in Vallejo, according to police.
At 8:48 p.m., police received a report of a person down in the roadway in the southbound lane of Sonoma Boulevard, north of Lewis Brown Road.
Officers responded to the scene and found a woman who appeared to have been hit by a car, police said.
An investigation revealed that the woman, a 27-year-old transient from Vallejo, was walking or riding her bike east across Sonoma Boulevard just south of the state Highway 37 over-crossing when she was struck by a vehicle traveling south, police said.
The vehicle fled and the victim died at the scene, police said.
Her name is not being released until the next of kin are notified.
Evidence gathered at the scene indicates that the vehicle was a silver Honda, possibly a large SUV or van, police said. Officers also found methamphetamine at the scene.
According to police, this is the third fatal collision in Vallejo this year.
