Officers arrested a man early Monday morning after he was allegedly caught inside a San Mateo resident’s home wearing only a T-shirt and shoes, police said.
At about 12:40 a.m., officers responded to the 100 block of North Railroad Avenue after a resident reported that a pantless man was in their neighbor’s backyard.
Once at the scene, officers received another report from a different resident saying that the man police were seeking was inside their home.
When the resident chased the suspect to the home’s front door, the two got involved in a physical altercation, according to police.
The suspect, later identified as 38-year-old Rodny Hernandez, then fled the home, but not before officers were able to detain him.
Officers eventually arrested Hernandez, a transient, on suspicion of burglary, prowling, battery and entering into a non-commercial dwelling, police said.
