Silicon Valley Power officials said that crews have restored power to all of the 2,700 customers who lost power earlier Wednesday in Santa Clara.
Power to all customers was back on at 2:38 p.m., Silicon Valley Power’s manager of customer services Larry Owens said. The outage was initially reported around 11:30 a.m.
Something underground and internal to a substation was damaged but what caused the damage is not yet clear and may never be determined, Owens said.
Crews did not immediately repair the damage but switched customers to working circuits in order to restore power, Owens said.
Power to about 300 customers came back on at 1:15 p.m. and all but two businesses had power at 2:24 p.m.
