A San Francisco man was sentenced Thursday to six years in prison for trafficking methamphetamine, Department of Justice officials said.
David Perez Hernandez, 20, admitted on March 3 that he possessed about 15 pounds of a mixture and substance containing meth as well as a gun to be used while trafficking drugs.
On July 5, a federal grand jury indicted Hernandez, charging him with one count of possession with intent to distribute meth and one count of using, carrying or possessing a firearm in relation to a drug trafficking crime.
Hernandez pleaded guilty to both charges on Sept. 15, Department of Justice officials said.
After his prison term, Hernandez will serve a three-year period of supervised release. He has been in custody since July and will begin serving his sentence immediately.
