A San Jose man drowned at a beach in unincorporated San Mateo County early Saturday morning according to the sheriff’s office.
Sheriff’s officials said deputies were dispatched around 3 a.m. to Tunitas Creek beach on reports of a possible drowning and upon arrival found the victim, a 34-year-old man, lying on the beach.
CPR and other life-saving measures were unsuccessful and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to sheriff’s officials, the victim was at the beach with his friends and family and had went wading knee-deep into the water when a wave knocked him down and pulled him further into the water.
Friends and family told deputies they searched the coastline for the man before finding his unconscious body, initiating CPR and contacting 9-1-1.
Sheriff’s officials said no foul play is suspected at this time, and the friends and family are cooperating with the investigation.
