The California Highway Patrol issued a Sig-alert for eastbound Interstate Highway 80 in Hercules Tuesday night after officers closed two lanes of the roadway to investigate a shooting.
The shooting was reported at 9:16 p.m. on Highway 80 just west of state Highway 4. Officers arrived on scene and confirmed that a shooting did occur at that location.
As of 9:45 p.m. it was not yet clear whether any injuries or property damage had been reported as a result of the incident.
Two eastbound lanes have been closed to facilitate the investigation. Traffic in the area remains heavy and drivers are advised to expect delays, according to the CHP.
