An injured mountain biker was rescued from a state park near Santa Rosa Monday afternoon with the help of a California Highway Patrol helicopter.
Sonoma County firefighters requested assistance at the scene of a mountain bike crash in the Annadel State Park at 3:55 p.m.
CHP Helicopter 32 responded and decided to stage a hoist rescue, but had to land and reconfigure their equipment first. They returned to the scene of the crash, hovered roughly 75 feet above the patient and lowered a rescue harness to firefighters waiting below.
After being hoisted out by the helicopter, the victim was loaded into an ambulance and transported to a hospital with serious injuries.
