Daly City will create an “Internet Safe Sale and Exchange Zone” outside the Police Department to make sure sales arranged over the Internet are conducted safely.
While most sales over the Internet are legitimate, occasionally they can lead to robbery or even murder, such as when a Daly City resident was murdered while selling a Sony Playstation in San Francisco in 2013, city officials said.
The exchange zone will be located in the visitor’s parking lot of the police station at 333 90th St.
“With surveillance cameras already in place at our police station under 24-hour video surveillance, people will now have the option to choose a safer place for transactions,” Daly City Vice Mayor David Canepa said in a statement.
