A man was fatally trapped under a falling tree Monday afternoon in a park in San Jose, according to firefighters.
Crews were called to Berryessa Creek Park at 3:11 p.m., according to San Jose Fire Capt. Christopher Salcido.
When they arrived at 3:16 p.m., firefighters found a man pinned under tree roughly two to three feet in diameter and determined that he was deceased on arrival, Salcido said.
It was unclear how long the victim was trapped under the tree before firefighters were called to the scene, however, according to Salcido.
San Jose police took over the investigation and firefighters cleared the scene at 3:56 p.m., Salcido said.
Further details including the victim’s identity and where exactly in the park he was killed were not immediately available.
