Vallejo police have identified a man who drove a vehicle at an officer on Saturday as 21-year-old Stacy Hawthorne, police said today.
Police responded to a report of a fight between two men around 7:30 p.m. at a Motel 6, located at 1455 Enterprise St., police said.
When officers arrived, police said one of the men, identified as Hawthorne, was exiting a second story room where he allegedly had a gun.
Police said an officer called out to Hawthorne from the parking lot but he ignored them.
Officers followed the man as he walked along the second story balcony before jumping down from the balcony, nearly landing on the officer, police said.
The officer tried to detain Hawthorne, but police said he escaped and ran to a Kia dealership at 4325 Sonoma Blvd., where he surprised a person and stole the person’s vehicle.
That’s when Hawthorne allegedly drove at an officer and the officer shot at him, police said.
The suspect drove the vehicle through a locked security gate at the dealership and sped away.
A witness told police a man carrying a gun was running from an area near the intersection of Sacramento and Redwood streets, police said.
Police found the stolen vehicle at that location but did not find Hawthorne. No officers were injured in the incident, police said.
Police described Hawthorne, a Vallejo resident, as standing 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing approximately 180 pounds.
He is considered armed and dangerous.
Anyone who encounters Hawthorne should not attempt to make contact with him but should instead call 911 and notify law enforcement officials of his location, police said.
