An AC Transit bus struck and killed a pedestrian in Alameda Thursday evening, according to a transit district spokesman.
The collision occurred at Otis Drive and Grand Street around 5:45 p.m. when a 20 bus, which was traveling east on Grand, turned left on to Otis, AC Transit spokesman Clarence Johnson said.
Police and fire responded to the area and the intersection was closed for several hours by the collision. The involved bus and driver were taken out of service, and bus service in the area rerouted around the collision, Johnson said.
Alameda police have not yet returned a call seeking further details.
