Santa Rosa police say a double fatal shooting was likely a murder-suicide where a man killed his teen girlfriend before shooting himself.
Santa Rosa police believe a May 5 double fatal shooting was a case of murder-suicide.
Officers responded late Thursday afternoon to reports that two people had been shot at a residence in the 1000 block of Aston Avenue. They discovered Anthony Guzman, 23, and Lesly Fierro-Noriega, 17, dead at the scene, both with gunshot wounds. Officers also located a Polymer 80 “ghost” handgun.
According to an update released Monday, investigators believe Guzman fatally shot Fierro-Noriega at the home where they lived together as a couple. Police said Guzman then fatally shot himself.
This is the city’s fifth homicide of 2022, four of which resulted from gun violence.
Police say the investigation is ongoing, though they believe the incident was isolated.
