Police are investigating two Oakland shootings less than an hour apart early Monday: one in East Oakland and the other near Lake Merritt.
A shooting early Sunday morning in an East Oakland neighborhood sent a person to the hospital, police said Monday.
The shooting occurred just after 5 a.m. in the 1500 block of 22nd Avenue in the San Antonio neighborhood, near Garfield Elementary School.
Police said they were called and told that a person went to a hospital following the shooting. The victim suffered wounds that were not life-threatening, according to police.
Officers went to the location of the shooting and found evidence of gunshots, police said.
In another incident just before 4:30 a.m., a 32-year-old Oakland man was wounded in burglary and shooting near Lake Merritt. Police said Monday the shooting occurred in the 3200 block of Lakeshore Avenue. The victim’s injuries are reportedly not life-threatening.
Police are investigating both shootings. Anyone with information about either incident is asked to call the police department’s felony assault unit at (510) 238-3426.
