Board approves salary bump, one-time payments for most Oakland school employees

The Oakland Unified School District announced Saturday evening that the Board of Education has approved ongoing salary increases and additional one-time payments for most classified and certificated employees in the school district.

On Saturday, the board initially approved tentative agreements pending review by the Alameda County Office of Education.

Employees covered by the agreements reached with Building Construction and Trades Council, the Oakland Education Association, Service Employees International Union Local 1021 and the United Administrators of Oakland Schools as well as confidential employees can expect to receive one-time payments on April 27, according to the school district.

Ongoing salary increases are effective July 1.

In a district statement released Saturday evening:

“We will continue to work together, in good faith, until we reach an agreement regarding increased compensation for one remaining labor union. … We appreciate the hard work of our payroll, labor relations, and talent departments for carrying out the implementation of the salary increases in such a short timeframe.”
