Students, faculty and staff across the University of California at Berkeley campus are being told to shelter in place Thursday morning due to a “credible campus-wide threat,” university officials said.
An emergency alert was issued at 10 a.m. and police are investigating the threat.
Police clarified via Twitter that they are “searching for a person who may want to harm specific individuals” and that it is not an active shooter situation.
Anyone on campus is being asked to go inside and move away from windows and doors. Anyone off campus is being asked to stay away from campus.
Campus staff are locking doors to building.
