Driver flees after striking, killing two women in crosswalk

Police in San Jose are investigating a fatal hit-and-run collision that left two pedestrians dead Thursday.

Officers with the San Jose Police Department responded Thursday at 6:26 p.m. to the area of Ocala Avenue and Oakton Court on a report of a hit-and-run collision involving a vehicle and two pedestrians.

A newer red pickup truck was traveling west on Ocala Avenue when it stuck two women crossing the roadway.

Police said both women were in the crosswalk when they were struck.

The driver fled the scene immediately after the collision and was last seen traveling north on Capital Expressway.

The pedestrians were transported to local hospitals and were pronounced deceased shortly after.
