According to Oakland Fire Department, the fire was first reported at 1:25 p.m. and was under control in just over 30 minutes.
Oakland fire officials said via Twitter at 1:38 p.m. that multiple units were responding to an RV fire at Wood Street and West Grand Avenue. The area is home to an encampment on Caltrans property.
In an update provided at 2:29 p.m., fire officials said the fire was located near Wood and 26th streets. Three RVs, two cars and one flatbed truck were burned in the blaze, and fire crews discovered one person deceased in an RV.
A total of five people were displaced.
No information has been given as to the cause of the fire.
