Driver flees after taking out tree, power in fiery rollover crash

Police are searching for a man suspected of fleeing after a rollover crash that took out a tree and downed power to a Santa Rosa neighborhood early Monday.

An officer on patrol saw the collision from several hundred yards away, about 3:45 a.m., in the area of Steele and Coffey lanes, Santa Rosa police said.

The officer went to help and spotted the suspect running from the car, which had caught fire. The vehicle had also taken out a large tree and knocked out power to the area.

Officers began a search for the suspect but didn’t find him.

No other injuries were reported, and it’s not known whether the suspect was injured in the crash. He is described as about 6 feet tall, wearing a brown/plaid jacket or long-sleeve shirt.
