Police arrest Petaluma woman twice this week on suspicion of DUI

A 37-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence twice this week in Petaluma, according to police.

The Petaluma resident was first arrested after she drove shortly before noon Wednesday into the parking lot Steamer Landing Park and allegedly sped through the lot and struck the curb while pulling into a stall, police said.

Officers who were in the area talking to someone else saw that the suspect appeared to be disoriented while exiting her vehicle and had her do field sobriety tests. She performed poorly on the tests and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of medications or narcotics, police said.

Then at about 10 p.m. Thursday, officers saw a vehicle going north on Edith Street that nearly hit several parked cars and allegedly crossed over the road and nearly hit their patrol car head-on. Officers pulled over the vehicle and identified the driver as the same woman, who showed signs of alcohol intoxication and was arrested after again performed poorly on field sobriety tests, police said.

Petaluma police said the suspect was previously arrested for separate offenses on Jan. 30 and last Sunday but did not elaborate on those cases.
