The four suspects, all 16 years old and from San Mateo, were arrested on suspicion of assault with a firearm, attempted robbery and conspiracy to commit a crime, according to the San Mateo Police Department.
On Wednesday at 5:34 p.m., police received several calls about someone who had been shot at the shopping center.
Responding officers located a 20-year-old man from San Mateo who was suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to the hospital, and as of Thursday was listed in critical but stable condition, police said.
Investigators determined the victim was shot inside the parking lot. The suspects fled the scene before police arrived. Several witnesses were able to provide police with descriptions of people possibly involved in the shooting.
Investigators were ultimately able to identify several suspects, and police on Thursday arrested the four juveniles in connection with the shooting.
