The collision was reported about 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of Almaden Expressway and Foxworthy Avenue.
Two pedestrians were pronounced dead at local hospitals and a third suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The driver remained at the scene and was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area while police investigate the collision; the intersection will be closed for several hours.
The collision is the sixth fatal collision in San Jose this year.
