Dead body discovered in remote area off Highway 101 near Cloverdale

Detectives with the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office are investigating after a body was discovered Friday in a remote area off U.S. Highway 101 near Cloverdale.

Shortly after 4 p.m. Friday, a California Highway Patrol Officer was flagged down by a resident in the area of Geysers Road and Highway 101, the sheriff’s office said Sunday in a post on social media.

When deputies responded, they found the body in a field, and the sheriff’s office of violent crime and crime scene detectives were called to the scene.

Detectives are working on the case and the sheriff’s office said no additional information would be released immediately.
