Nine suspects sought in Concord jewelry store smash-and-grab

Concord police are seeking several suspects in a smash-and-grab robbery at a jewelry store in the Sunvalley Shopping Center on Monday evening.

At about 7:30 p.m., nine people entered the Iceberg Diamonds store with hammers and began smashing glass display cases and stealing jewelry, according to police.

When employees tried to intervene and stop them, the suspects wielded the hammers at them and then fled before police arrived. Some people inside the mall thought they heard gunshots, but police said the sounds were just of the hammers hitting the glass cases.

No arrests have been made in connection with the robbery. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Christine Corey at (925) 603-5828.
