Teen boy injured in Hunters Point shooting

A 17-year-old boy was injured in a shooting in San Francisco’s Hunters Point neighborhood on Thursday, according to police.

The shooting was reported around noon Thursday in the 700 block of Kirkwood Avenue, where the teen was standing outside and heard gunshots, then realized he had been shot, police said.

The 17-year-old was taken to a hospital to be treated for his injuries, which are not life-threatening. The suspect vehicle was last seen fleeing north on Kirkwood Avenue and the shooter remains at large.

Police have not released detailed descriptions of the suspect or vehicle and are asking anyone with information to call the Police Department’s tip line at (415) 575-4444 or to send a tip by text message to TIP411 with “SFPD” at the start of the message.

A fatal shooting happened on the same block of Kirkwood Avenue last month. A 35-year-old man died in the shooting on the night of Sept. 4.
