Woman dies in hospital after hit-and-run near City Hall

San Francisco police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run collision that happened near City Hall early Thursday morning.

Police said they responded to the area of Van Ness Avenue and McAllister Street at 1:05 a.m. and found a woman in her 30s lying in the roadway. Medics transported the victim to the hospital with critical injuries. Despite life-saving measures, the victim later died at the hospital.

Investigators believe a light-colored SUV was involved in the collision and fled the scene. No arrests have been made.

Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call the SFPD tip line at (415) 575-444 or text a tip to TIP411 and begin the text message with SFPD. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
